LET'S BOOST YOUR CONFIDENCE AND SET UP A DRIPLINE IRRIGATION SYSTEM TODAY

Drip Tape Irrigation System set up for flower farmers

Calculations

Before we get started there are a few things we need to figure out:
  • How much irrigation line do we need?
  • How many rows are we planning on irrigating?
  • What is our water flow rate?
  • What is the water pressure at the your point of connection?
I have created an irrigation worksheet for you. I will walk you through the calculations to get your irrigation system all sorted.
Drip Tape Irrigation Worksheet to help you figure out what you need in order to set up your irrigation system.

Layout

My garden space is a rectangle so this was fairly simple for me to figure out. Basically, what are the length and width of your growing space? How wide are you planning on making your rows? My rows are 4 ft wide, and I have 4 drip tape lines per row. This seems to be enough to wet the soil evenly. If you are planning irrigation for a fancy shaped flower bed, or other grow space I wouldn't recommend straight drip tape irrigation. There are better dripline options for more unique layouts.

Installation

Once you have this system figured out on paper you can purchase all of your supplies. I have included a shopping list at the bottom of the worksheet. The thought of installing all these parts correctly is totally overwhelming! Don't worry, Dubois Agrinovation have a wonderful installation guide! I would recommend downloading and saving this guide, these pdfs on the internet tend to go missing if you don't save them!
